Just wanted to jump into this mud fest and say that budget reconciliation is the best chance to get something passed as law as it requires only 50 instead of 60 votes in the Senate. This generally happens only once a year. Fun fact, budget reconciliation was used by Trump to pass the tax cuts and Obama for the ACA. Because of how divided Congress is, the "signature" legislation of different presidencies relied on this procedural "loophole" instead of getting 60 votes.

Congress can actually pass 2 budget reconciliation bills this year before October (because last year they didn't have one for 2021) so they can do one for 2021 and 2022.

I think if the infrastructure deal goes through, that might add goodwill amongst Senators that they might, they MIGHT, push for a mini immigration bill.

But if anything passes this Congress, they have to do it ASAP, because the politicians will start campaigning for reelection starting Jan 2022

Indeed....We have seen this time and again...the Window of opportunity is very small, once the second year comes, nothing can be done due to midterm and presidential election...
