For any fed agency, their budget is controlled by Congress. I would guess that Republicans have been putting restrictions on what USCIS can do. But it is just my opinion.

I do seem to recall that there were reports, a year or so ago, that USCIS was getting ready for the wave of applications once DAPA was enacted by preparing to hire more workers, renting warehouses, ordering cards, etc. So I don't know why they could not do that right now.

Various states have different deadlines. But some allow people to register on election day.

Here is an article I was just reading on this subject: http://observer.com/2016/10/ny-pols-...te-next-month/

I want to say October 10th, and I think it varies by state, but for people with N-400 forms waiting to get approved im sure that is a process depending where they are in the process. Im sure theres only so much they can push out in time for the deadline

I use the uscis case tracker app fir iPhone. It has a function that allows you to see the status of up to 1500 cases a day.

I hope they all vote for Clinton. It's been such a mess, specially knowing that it's election year. They should have done some sort of preparation.

Hi everyone, I've been lurking on this thread for a while now.
I applied on 5/24/2016 and EAD expired on 9/18/2016 and I've been on a leave of absence since then. I work for a major hospital so HR is pretty strict with their policies. So I cannot go back to work until they see the physical EAD card. It's been really tough just waiting at home and not knowing when your life will start again.

I did all the things you can possibly do; made several service requests, contacted ILC, contacted Ombudsman's office etc. The attorney that worked on my case is good friends with the senator so I've been getting periodic updates on my case. I just want to share with everyone the message that I got back from the senator...

"USCIS electronic records confirm that your constituent’s DACA renewal case is pending background check clearance. USCIS is committed to adjudicating these cases in a timely manner while also ensuring public safety and national security. A small percentage of cases have unresolved background check issues that temporarily delay adjudication. Although USCIS makes every effort to resolve such cases promptly, USCIS is unable to speculate when the background check will be completed"

I don't understand why there is such an issue considering they would find absolutely nothing with my background check. So I'm assuming a lot of people's cases has been delayed due to this reason, despite them saying "a small percentage."

USCIS is a self-funded agency that relies on the form fees paid by applicants to operate. If this were an actual business, USCIS would have folded due to too many dissatisfied customers. Instead, the agency still has a ton of leverage because it has something that its customers desperately need and zero competition. They are not compelled to hold themselves accountable for their ineffectiveness and inefficiency.

Where on ELIS do I look for the Bios notice? Under recent notice or somewhere else?
