Negative. I wonder though, when does the receive date start for applications? When it was delivered or when they actually start working on it?

This might explain the process for you.

Also, I know AP is a big thing to clear EWI, but I wonder why the same can't be done using an approved I-130 and EAD/AP combo. Might be something should DACA end.

hi all,

just wanted to update to say that i am having my interview next Tuesday. i am very nervous, so please wish me luck!

also, i wanted to ask for input: i am not receiving all the mail i am supposed to from USCIS. i only received 1 receipt letter. the only reason i know about the interview is because my bother (who prepared my paperwork for me) has called USCIS and because i made an InfoPass appointment.

when i called, they said they mailed out letters but that some were returned. i verified my address a bunch of times, and it is correct.

any ideas on what i can ask of them?

i already spoke to our regular mailman, but he says he does not know anything. =\

For those that have a GC already. Does the GC have both of your last names? I spoke with my lawyer today in regards to my AOS and he told me that he would be filing with both of my last names since for the GC they go by what is in your passport or birth certificate. Im just worried because everything else except my passport and my birth certificate have only one name (SSN and CA ID, Bank accounts, etc)

Anyone with just one last name on the GC?

When you go to your interview they will verify your address with you. But let them know you are not receiving anything at the address you provided to them.

If I had to do it all over again I'd fill the paper work w/just one last name. It's been a pain w/drivers licenses, loans, legal paper work, etc... There's precedent on some guy in
Cali losing a lawsuit because of it.

When I originally got DACA i filed with only one last name and was approved so I got SSN, DL, utilities, everything with just one last name. When I renewed it, I filed with only one last name and they added the second last name. When I filed for AoS lawyer said to use both last names because even if I didn't they would add it in as the GC has to match your passport.

At my interview I asked if she could approve it with just my paternal last name and the immigration officer said no as it had to match my passport. The officer said I could go down to county court and have my name legally changed through court ($) and then send in the paperwork to USCIS and pay for a replacement card with the new legal name ($$$) or I could just wait until I became a citizen and I could legally change my name for free during that process. Going to go with the free route.

I'm not sure if this has ben brought up, but when you get married you have the right to legally change your name. Even the marriage license application asks you this (might vary per state). Furthermore, look up SSA and a marriage certificate is enough proof to change name on SS card. Also, if you read the instructions for forms I-130. It clearly says that if you have changed your name include documentation of why it got changed (i.e. marriage license). Even the website to renew US passport states this. Am I missing something???

I'm a dude. Does that matter? My marriage license only has my paternal last name.
