For those are going to basic soon, RA or AR you should bring your immigration documents with you. No, you cannot go the USCIS office during bct for immigration because all of them are closed except for the lucky bastard at Leonard wood. The rest of you can still visit USCIS local support offices in your AIT for application support. Now, this is mostly for you reservist with pending applications. Smooth your way in to naturalize every you chance you get. Reservists, please dont be entitled assholes at AIT about you immigration issues. Be genuine and find a NCO there willing to take you during duty day for immigration issues. What I would do is emphasize the issue of your immigration status and how it would affect you during and post AIT. Throw your CoC with legal jargons and confused them to let you go to USCIS office. Just nicely beg lol.

For active people, from my knowledge, the policy is 180 TIS needed to initiate the process.

Bring your debit for sure, for emergency cash and to make sure youre actually getting paid during basic so bring the debit card that is associated with your MyPay. You would surprised of how incompetent army can really be. There are pay issues left and right with everyone because some dumb SPC cant do their job pushing buttons on 2002 windows xp computer.

$50 cash is enough in person tbh. All of you personal items and backpack will be lock away day 1 of basic and you wont get to them at the end of your journey so you just need some cash/1 debit card.

Thanks, really helpful! So how does that Tuition Assistance benefit work? Also will BAH be paid? Are they just going to be adding it to your paycheck?

Lastly can you bring a watch to basic training? I am thinking about buying a cheap one like this that has a vibration alert.

When does that 180 TIS start? Day 1 of basic? Day 1 of AIT? Or day 1 at duty station?
