I personally don't give a fuck about those who don't make it, which is exactly what you are going to be like after 10 years when your immigrant status is no longer a concern for you. This whole thing is like a lottery, everyone puts in, but not everyone is going to win. Many of us called and faxed US representatives, attended rallies, etc, but some of them aren't going to receive any benefits much like those who crossed the border illegally one day after 1986's immigration reform, those who aged out of DACA, left the country, married, died, etc.

In the end it is a personal struggle. What will make you qualify for these benefits is the result of your own efforts: your ability to take risks, facing the fear of deportation every time you drive to work without a license, spending your savings on attorneys and forms, etc. You are doing these things for yourself and just because you sympathize with the plight of other people in a similar position, it doesn't make you responsible for them. First I am an individual and then I am whatever fucking label people apply to me.

One observation. People are selfish, some more than others, but being less selfish doesn't make you any better than anyone else, unless of course, you belong to the group of people that love to pat each other's backs.

Does anybody know what is going to happen to us Dreamers or DACA recipients? It is going to suck to wait 10 years for a green card. It will be great for my parents because they can work legally. It will affect me because I will not be able to find a job in my field and there will be other dreamers in the same situation. I really hope Dream Act is attached to the immigration bill.

Nothing concrete yet. Just rumors that we will get (conditional?) permanent residency "immediately". Virtually every member of the Gang of Eight has mentioned that we will have it much better over the rest in the other categories. Essentially, it's a given and no one has commented on it any further because everyone agrees that we were brought here by no fault of our own.
