Do they give you LiK?

Had my OPI this morning (crazy ass roller coaster ride as the recruiter was late on arriving and we actually missed the call, went home thinking having to wait another few weeks in agony, and then got called right back to MEPS since somehow they had the administrator call back in)

Results came back few hours later and I passed with a 2/2 despite stuttering some of the answers, should be signing/enlisting next week sometime!

nah, we have rooms at the unit to sleep. some do apply and get LIK, but they put you at the Hampton Inn 30 mins away so must of us dont apply and just sleep at the unit

Just got back from MEPS yesterday, finished oath-taking and contract-signing.

MOS: 88H Cargo Specialist
Unit: Garden Grove, CA (about 10mi from my house)
Ship Date: FEB next year

Only had three options for Reserve MOSs, other two were (don't remember the codes):
Mortuary Affairs, El Monte, CA, super high 24K bonus, reason for not choosing: well...
Chemical Hazard, El Monte, CA, reason for not choosing: AIT way too long

Also, apparently since I'm Reserve, I won't be going back to MEPS for shipping, they'll pick me up from the house and take me to the airport directly. LOL

I forgot to ask about the Housing Allowance during BCT, because I have a current lease under my name... Is it too late to ask for that?

It is not too late for that, just make sure you bring the lease contract when you ship, you will give it to reception battalion.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you do on the ASVAB?

Those MOS sound pretty dangerous...

I don't mind you asking. I got a 99.

The reason those are the only jobs available to me is because I enlisted in the Army Reserve. So even though my ASVAB score itself doesn't limit me, the fact that I am a MAVNI Reservist limits my options to:

1. Jobs that don't require a security clearance.
2. Jobs that are available after my ship date was pushed back 9 months due to SSBI.
3. Jobs that are available in reserve units around my area after item 2, (although as mentioned in previous posts, I could have requested for inquiries on units farther away).

FYI you're joining the army not the costco team so every MOS is gonna have possibility of deployment and combat (though obviously there's higher risk if you're active duty/infantrymen, etc).

That being said as a select reservist in non combat role, the chance of that is low, though the mindset is always supposed to be deployment ready.
