I have always appreciated Durbin's effort. But this line is overrated. It's been 17 years since he introduced the Dream Act. Even when they had a majority nothing was able to get it done. Unfortunately he doesn't have the leverage like we all think he does. He's the 2nd highest most important Democrat in the Senate, and the way this shut down was handle was a complete embarrassment because not only did they not have an exit plan, but they lost all leverage during the process. Now I am not placing full blame on him. All I'm saying is that he is not in charge like we may all think he is.

All those years were different. Durbin knows that something must pass for dreamers with or without democratic leverage he is trying to get you the best deal. Stop panicking he knows what he is doing.

First of all relax, no one is panicking. Stop trying to twist words. But your expecting for Durbin to be the great messiah. That’s not going to happen. They don’t control the White House, Senate or The House. Now it’s not the time for public relations fight which is what the Democrats are doing. It’s time to negotiate and compromise.

If the WH proposal becomes a bill, pay attention to the clause allowing them to take away our status. It’s so vague that anything would warrant our loss of status.

You were the one who pulled out a fragment out of my text to make your point. And you are really panicking taking the first offer just because you are included. And no I'm not expecting Durbin to be the great messiah but he can get something for all of us at a lower cost. And you are right democrats don't have any power but republicans need them to push their anti immigrant agenda so that's the leverage they really have. They never had a shut down leverage since the republicans simply dont give a fuck you can't play dirty with a pig.

First of all read all of my recent post. I have been one of the few that has been consistently saying to relax, this isn’t the final draft, these are only the beginning of negotiations, so nice try buddy!

Secondly you would think you’d learn by now that Durbin alone will not get us anything. It takes more than just Durbin. Not to mention his relationship with the president and the White House isn’t at an all time high. It’s also well known that the White House has been working OT to tell GOP senators to vote against the Durbin bill. His bill has already been pronounced dead on arrival.

Thirdly, if the Democrats never had the shut down leverage has you say, then why even shut down the government period? Makes no sense if they never had a real strategy.

Lastly if your expecting for Durbin to be our Superman then boy are you in for a disappointment. Durbin alone can’t get it done. It has been done, and it has failed. Even his best buddy Graham has gone on record to say we need the gang of 60.
