Sounds good. Just one note, you have to take the EAD to the Social Security Office before getting a Social. It's weird. You also can't work with an EAD without getting a social, even though you can have one.

The ultimate goal is to coordinate this entire process, from Deferred Action to Employment Authorization to Driver's License as efficiently as possible so as to maximize the usefulness of our 2 year stint(s) of faux freedom. The deferred action 2 year clock will likely start counting down the moment one receives approval. Then you can file for an EAD which could take up to 3 months to arrive.

These are things that we have to foresee and prepare for.
Not to mention some states make you get a permit first, and wait 6 months before getting a license

And you also wouldn't want to risk driving without a licensed driver in the passenger's seat, which stinks as well because some of our parents don't have a driver's license

That status is usually reserved for people under 18. Obviously it varies state to state, but just be sure to ask so you don't waste 6 months of your time driving with a permit instead of a license.

I noted that the chart only listed the states and didn't include DC and other territories.

Washington DC
Requirements
Proof of SSN

You don't neccesarily need a SSN if you can provide a letter stating you are ineligible for a SSN. You can get a SSN with the EAD, and so it follows you can get a license in DC now.

I'm still looking to see what the rules for Puerto Rico/ the Virgin islands/ etc etc are. I'll update this post when I find them.

Denial notices are only accepted with a valid, unexpired i94 or proof of a valid, unexpired visa. Will add DC when I get home though. Thank you for the reminder!

NJ is 6 months of permit driving if you are between 17-21
over 21 then it is cut down to 3 months
