I have been seeing a lot of people going out of work due to government being slow on renewing their work permits. Mine is expiring 2/2022, do you guys think that i should renew at 6 months ahead or more?

I sent my application 1 year ahead and I'm still waiting. My current permit expires in 4 months. I'm considering calling USCIS to try expedite.

I bet, they would just throw our applications in a time box if we send one too early and get back to it when it's near expiration. I'm so used to this situation.

I sent mine 4 weeks ago, with 200 days in advance. So far, all i know is that they'll reuse my biometrics.

I sent mine early.

I'd rather lose a few months on my EAD, than losing my job.

Many people renew successfully without any photos. Last time I renewed I only submitted 1 photo that I had. So it's up to you.

I have always renewed with 2 photos. The renewal instructions list it as a requirement. Whether they need it or not, just sent it to avoid any issues, or delays if your application processing.
