On immigration, a federal court order blocking President Trump’s effort to end an Obama-era program protecting Dreamers, immigrants brought into the country illegally as children, has taken the pressure off Congress to act.

Now lawmakers are not expected to touch the issue before Election Day.

I am still thankful the judge allowed renewals. Most of us expire in the coming months and I can’t imagine the stress and anxiety if renewals hadn’t been allowed.

Lol, some were saying it cost us legalization.

Again, I mentioned we should definitely look to the courts for the check and balance over the term of the Presidency. The federal court will take some time to get through the case. Possibly even beyond the term of the current President.

I really hope the federal court takes it sweet time.

This makes Flake's daca patch idea even dumber, especially because of the border security concessions. Why concede on that shit when we have DACA now without any concessions that present a danger to the community.

"It’s unclear to many GOP lawmakers and aides what exactly will get done before Election Day. The House will be on recess for 14 weeks between now and Nov. 6. That includes the customary recess for the entire month of August"

Inexcusable from all involved.

Watch out for Pelosi allowing funding to harm immigrant communities in the appropriations budget.

All of these establishment politicians need to be primaried and voted out. They want to discourage people from holding them accountable and fade out. Like hell we will while long-term undocumented people continue to be hunted.

Totally agree with you. Just know that there are groups in DC holding them accountable. There is also pressure from afar.

This is bullshit.

Yeah, I am hearing SCOTUS can possibly rule on the issue in the fall or early January.

Democrats need to force a bridge on the legislative gap now.

The request from the Supreme Court to the circuit court was to expedite their answer to the case. You are looking at 2-3 months.

They need to ensure at a minimum protection for all Dreamers from deportation, even if the benefit portion (employment authorization) is not immediately available to the expanded group.

Democratic leaders can pressure DHS to re-establish enforcement priorities like they did with Obama. Their hands are not as tied as they claim. Do your job.
