Add Rachel Maddow on FaceBOOK & Lets get her to support the Dream Act

I'm friends with her on Facebook, (yes this is REALLY her) and a fan of her show, if you decide to add her and write her a message or a comment, please make it intelligent and concise, let her know your story, she's not Oprah, but she has an audience and pull.. if many of us write her maybe she can help explain our story and why we need to get senators to vote for the Dream act, maybe there might be less calls AGAINST the Dream Act.

Heh, why not Oprah? I'm sure there's some way to contact her or her show, and the story of Dreamers is something that I can see her covering.

I am actually writing a piece on what constitutes gay immigration politics to go out soon. You can find some of our stories listed here - http://dreamactivist.org/about/our-s...s-await-dream/ as a basic outreach effort.

A lot of students are queer but don't mention it so they are not 'outed' but I get emails from some periodically who talk about their really unique situations. It's also great to have them pull you to the side and talk to you like "Omg, I am a gay dreamie too!" I just had some ex dreamie email me with a long survey talking about how he had to leave his home at 17 etc. It's heartbreaking at times, but if it means having some of us be more visible so they can talk to us and find strength/role models, I get great fulfillment from being 'out' and about.

anything special for the hetero's? no 1 wife limit?

ah.. well I am Bisexual, but i don't think that Rachel's attention can only be reached by the Queer Dreamies.. i think if we all contact her and ask her to mention us on her show, support us, she will.

Now, THIS is smart.

Rachel's show is mostly watched by people who are actually familiar with politics and the political process. If she's able to convince them that the DA is progressive enough, these are the kind of viewers who will take the time to make their voices heard. Oprah viewers might shed a tear or two, and nod their heads a couple times, but my guess is that not a lot of them will be compelled to pick up the phone and call their senators.

I'm gay, but I don't think she cares so much about that. I think she likes fishing though, so maybe say something fishing-y when you contact her
