New Haven Teen Discovers Illegal Status While Trying To Serve Country

He was caught because he was using a phony social security number. The problem was, he didn't know it. His mother never told him he was illegal.

His best hope is a bill currently in Congress called the Dream Act. It would allow for illegal aliens who were brought to the U.S. as children to complete their education. If they get a two year college degree, and serve two years in the military, they would be eligible for citizenship.

Wow. I'm glad they let him stay. He doesn't have to go to a private college though right? He can go to a state one if he can afford it right? Also, do you have to go to college for two years and the military or one of the two?

I'm surprised they let him stay, but I wonder what will happen to his mother?

Its either two years of College OR two years in the Army. I guess you could do both if you want but you don't need to.
