Ultimately, the question is – and no one on the sidelines is certain of the answer – how much does Barack Obama care about immigration reform? For without aggressive presidential leadership, the congressional votes are probably not there to reform an immigration system that no one (left, right or center) believes is working.

The answer is quite simple, Obama doesn't care.

Dream Act Will Pass in the year 3511

This is so frustrating and we have to keep waiting around. It seems like they keep avoiding the subject.

Over reaction. The guy was left in the shittiest situation imaginable by GW so it will take time but I do believe he cares and will do something about it. Otherwise why would he mention it during elections? What gain did he have in mentioning the DREAM Act? Not like DREAMies could vote? Not like the DREAM Act was a THE ISSUE to support during elections...Doubt him all you want but that would just make you the same flip flop you claim him to be.

Obama promised to pass the Dream Act and to work in CIR and he knows that if he wants a second term he is going to need the Latino vote and if he fails in passing anything he is going to lose a lot of support so I'm very optimistic that he is going to pass something we just need to be patient there's still time for something to happen and I've heard several lawyers on tv that say that there will be something by the end of the year.

Obama promised to pass DA as soon as possible but there's other priorities.
