Shouldn't be too surprising since Labor day came & went.Imo,they should have tried immigration first before tackling anything else.It is obvious if they tackled the issue head on they could take some hot air out of the GOP's blowhorn.Well here is the article.
Quote:
Senator Charles Schumer (D-New York), chair of the Senate Judiciary Immigration Subcommittee, will delay release of his bill to overhaul the nation’s immigration laws, indicating this week he hopes to draw more bipartisan support in the interim while healthcare legislation remains on the hot seat.

The Senate is expected to act before the House on immigration legislation, with the expectation that President Obama would sign a bill by spring.
In another article Schumer explains why there is a delay.
Quote:
Democratic leaders predict Republicans will co-sponsor the immigration bill, something that has eluded Obama on health care and other major legislation he advanced this year.

“There’s strong interest from the Republican side in coming up with a balanced, down-the-middle approach on immigration,” said Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee’s immigration subcommittee.

Schumer had promised to have an immigration bill drafted by the time Congress returned to work this week, but he has delayed unveiling any proposal in order to draw input and support from both sides of the aisle. The Obama administration also has been meeting with key Senate and House members from both parties to find consensus on a plan.

To say that immigration is at least as tough a political issue as health care is an understatement. Twice in the past four years, the Senate tried and failed to approve a comprehensive package of reforms, and the House was too timid to take it up.

But the seasoned veterans of those legislative battles are more confident that they can overcome attacks against legal and illegal immigrants and get a bill done by spring.

I am just curious of what's going to happen if immigration bill doesn't happen this year or the next year. I just wanna know what happens? Does this government get overthrown by its citizens or illegal immigrants? what just really happens I just wanna know!

I think they should take time and pass it this year or at least next year but no later than 2011. It takes time to rack up the supporters, so I understand why he has to take time.

I'm crossing my fingers!, I Hope that we don't have to wait any longer than what we already have.

2011 ?! you must seriously be joking...

The pace at which my life and that of many others here is racing away.. its coming down to a boiling point...

I just wish they would get a vote together ASAP and if it fails then so be it. Atleast I know that if it didnt happen in a democratic majority in both houses and president it never will no matter who or what said anything.

Atleast then ill be free to pursue whatever is left of my life and other options.

Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.

They need 'time' to earn support????!!! In what planet do some of you live? DA was introduced in 2001- If you believe and accept that waiting is an acceptable way to have these morons play with your life, then I hope that you don't age out or get caught.

Hey I'm gonna graduate in like.. a year... I'm like... doing my internship this semester and I'm still far away from a green card. I need this NOW but I really prefer they do it in Obama's first term and NOT fail this time.

and I have two years to go, but the college cost will potentially force me to take a leave of absence before spring term commences.

Seems like I will have to accept the Federal PLUS loan, one lawyer essentially gave an ok on that option, and another tried hard not to give a straight answer because the DA has not passed yet, I was really hoping to at least have an idea before taking potentially risky routes.
