Barry? You mean Obama? What did you expect him to do? Come out in support of this? You should be glad that he's publicly advocated for the Dream Act. Understand that the man is in a tough position and can't be we want him to be. I'm just happy that he's talked about Dream and the need to pass it asap.

Did you even read the article?

What the Obama administration is doing is going after the employers rather than the employees the way the Bush administration used to operate.

This is a much more humane way of dealing with a broken immigration system than to round them up and put them in handcuffs.

Humane, maybe. It's a pretty ingenious plan when you think about it- Cut off jobs, which are sources of food, shelter and clothing for immigrants, and they will be forced to go back to their countries. It doesn't address the fact that many of these immigrants have already set up roots in this country and know no other country but the US, like students.

We're hanging by a thread. Literally.

They have been doing that for a while now. Obama wants to show that he has a strong stance on illegal immigration, aside from that he wants to show that he is trying to limit illegal immigration. He has even extended the 287 g program. Like trovales said it is an ingenious plan but their is nothing humane about it. They are just making sure that these immigrants have no way of supporting their family. That is cruel.

Seriously, it is so funny to see how so many people say "great 1800 jobs more for our citizens."

As far as I know, the legal citizens will ask for better pay, better benefits, better working environment. They will NOT work for like $3 per hour.

Also buyers too. Raise 50 cent more on each production cost and you see how suddenly people don't buy. Would people want to buy $12.99 burger?

They are blinded that often what they get cheap is from illegal immigrants' exploit of wages and cheap foreign labors.

All these citizens just don't appreciate what they have and like to blame for people trying their best living without any crime records. If law breaking criminals get their 2nd chance after serving a few years in the jail, why don't these people get 2nd chance? I wonder about that.

Obama needs to send a strong message that illegal immigration won't be tolerated and so this is what he has to do.

Of course, people don't like crime so he can show that he's a strong anti-crime president by going after criminals to showcase his opposition to crime.

If that's what it takes then so be it.

Yes i did read it, but if going after the employers is simply firing people then its like giving fired employees a slow death as opposed to a fast one cause their source of income was taken away. I know how this feels personally cause it happened to me before.

it's true that this sucks and will affect us one way or another...

however, the government does have to do something about illegal immigration. They do NEED to enforce legal immigration. We know that better than anyone else because we are really the victims who got the blunt end of things in this immigration issue.

Plus without some kind of enforcement and border security, it is unlikely they will pass any immigration bill. So as painful as this is, I think this is necessary evil my friends.
