yay! gives us hope =). glad to see that they're still working on it despite Obama not addressing immigration.

Thank God for Schumer. At least someone in Washington is human and reasonable. If I ever meet him, I would like to sincerely thank him. He is a good person.

Un-f***ing believable. The big plan from Democrats is to pander now to the bigots who killed reform last time. They want Dobbs to convince tea-baggers to support legalization???????? That is the Democrats and Obama's job to do: Lay out reform the public cannot refuse. That's what they should have done with health reform; that's what they should do with immigration reform.

Uh, they need 60 votes to do anything with it. Even if they had all the Democrats' support, they would need a Republican. No if's, and's or but's about it.

I'm sure there are some Republicans who'll support Immigration. Although I'm honestly concerned about the DEMOCRATS who WON'T.

In another note; They're really not gonna give the DA a chance without CIR, are they?...

No, they need to gain control and discipline in their party. This is why regular Americans are pissed off. They never had '60' votes. They had 60 members.

Bush & Co. were allowed to ruin the country for nearly a decade with nowhere near that many votes; and as much as I hate to say it, it is a testament to their political skills.

i THiNK Obama's strategy is to secretly work on immigration reform by first ensuring the borders, ensure votes and gain supports from Reps&Dems etc then do the immigration reform..He probably didn't address immigration to not cause a public outcry since America's main problem is really the economy. Americans would make a huge deal, rally and do anything against immigration reform if he talks about the immigration on his oratory. He still did address it but very subtle..it would be more disappointing if he didn't at all



i mean people here bash Obama but I still am a firm believer of Obama! I believe he's an honest man who wants to better the U.S. and really help the people in the US...He's more human than Bush..

I'm with you. I think Obama is more "humane" and hopeful about all of this cuz of how young he is compared to the other presidents (that's what everyone says, at least), and it might be that he just hasn't been disillusioned yet.

I still think he plans on working on the Immigration Reform and that he wants legalization, but the mere fact he still PLANS on working on it and HOPES for legalization doesn't mean he won't find lots of obstacles in his path, like he did with the Health Care Reform.
If Health Care, that's already a hard subject as it is, and a priority issue, is taking this long and with no prevision to a solution, how long do you think will it take for ANYTHING about Immigration, a highly taboo and secondary subject, to get solved?

Remember, Obama's America's savior first, not ours...

I think we just became best friends.

The priority, and rightly so, are the citizens of this country. When many of them are losing their jobs, homes, cars, etc.... Bringing up undocumented people would have set them off. Once the American people begin to bounce back (and trust the government to make their lives better), I believe they'll start to care more about people in our situation. And YES, I do believe it's possible that CIR happens this year.
