Senate Republicans will block any immigration reform bill until they're satisfied that borders are secure, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Tuesday.

McCain, a longtime proponent of comprehensive immigration reform, said he believed that he and his Arizona colleague, Sen. John Kyl (R-Ariz.), could convince their fellow Senate Republicans to oppose an immigration bill for now.

I don't really see it going anywhere," McCain said of the Schumer proposal. "Jon Kyl and I will fight against it until the borders are secure."
Quote:
McCain and Kyl had proposed deploying 3,000 National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border

Why doesn't Obama just send the national guard to the border to shut this old geezer up?

The primary anyway. How awesome would it be if that seat went to a Democrat.

That was just what I was thinking today. Who is the Democratic front-runner in Arizona anyway?

Maybe if McCain loses he will try to run as an independent and split the conservative vote. That was another daydream I had.

Securing the borders....well lets see they have been securing them since Clinton and I think before then. So lets not hold our breath. Politicians just say that because it gives them a way to evade the question. As for JBL's translation its pretty accurate. As for the seat going to a Democrat, well that'd be pointless if the Democrat was going to take the same back seat approach like most Democrats are doing on this issue right now.

Haha none! I think I read that it was suppose to be Napolitano but since She left for DHS, there haven't been any standouts? I think I also read that the attorney general of AZ was a potential but he's running for Governor....

..... Just looked it up.... It's Rodney Glassman (vice mayor of Tuscon) and Rudy Garcia (former mayor of a city in CA). Those are the only ones announced. Either way, let McCain keep talking his nonsense. Just wait for the Latino vote stats in his favor this time around...

Rudy Garcia's plan for immigration sounds like something we would all qualify for since we've pretty much have already done most of the things his credit system calls for, but I am on the fence about it.
