They've pushed and pulled, marched on the national Mall and issued demands - including some to the president, which the White House hustled to meet - and now, immigrant rights groups find they've forced immigration and legalization to the top of the crowded congressional agenda.

The next test of their power will come Saturday, when the groups hope to turn out hundreds of thousands of supporters in rallies across the country, all demanding that Congress and Mr. Obama slow interior enforcement and move to legalize illegal immigrants.

May 1st rally will put icing to the cake of long awaited CIR. We should be seeing a debate soon in the Senate.

Really, if Congress can't hear now, its NEVER. This is DO OR DIE for the Dems. If there is no CIR, there will be no Democratic majority in November and Obama will suffer a great setback.

Whats the difference between the May 1st rally and the one we had a few weeks ago in DC ?

I'm sure more people will turn up saturday given how immigration is on the agenda

This is a very conservative paper, so they are probably over-emphasizing the populist pressure on our side to try to encourage the right to mobilize against immigration reform.
