Breaking News: Dream Act Timeline Shifting in U.S. Senate

The Hill newspaper is reporting today, Friday September 17, that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid does not intend on completing the defense authorization bill before the November elections, allowing Democrats to take up the tax debate before Election Day. Senator Reid said he intends to look at the authorization bill and an amendment to add the DREAM Act to the legislation, as well as give Republicans the opportunity to vote against a provision in the authorization bill repealing “don’t ask, don’t tell.” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell accused Reid of playing politics with the defense bill, and Republican Arizona Senator John McCain called out Democratic leaders for using a defense bill that authorizes national security spending to bring up immigration issues and military policy regarding gays.

Republicans in the House brushed off Reid’s plan to attach the DREAM Act to the defense authorization bill as a political move to win Hispanic votes in Nevada.

As previously reported on HAI’s RotorNews, Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) will introduce a comprehensive immigration reform bill in the upper chamber before the end of the year. It is unlikely that the bill will get passed before Congress returns home at the end of the month.

I don't see anything on The Hill about a timeline shift.

this seems to have as much credibility as me writing an immigration article on my blog.

This is not breaking news... I read the article on The Hill yesterday....
The Hill is a reliable source, and I consider it a major source along with Politico and Roll Call.

As far as I know, there will be still a vote to attach the DREAM Act to the Defense Authorization bill next Tuesday. So, there is no timeline shift for the DREAM Act.

What they are saying is that the debate on the Defense Authorization bill will not be completed before the election and that it will be voted in the Senate after the election. If the DREAM Act is attached to the bill on Tuesday, then there is a high chance of it being passed in the Senate. If it fails, then, of course, it will have no chance.

So, the fate of the DREAM Act will be determined next Tuesday.

I think that it means that the Defense Bill would not be totally finish before the November Elections. So that would mean that the defense bill would be finish around the end of November or Early December.

So this article is misguided?
