This may not be related to DA, but it does bring hope because if Obama wants to be re-elected he cannot do it without the hispanic vote. With this said, Obama has to deliver on his promise to reform the immigration system. I am also glad that analysis comes from an educational institution and not a biased governamental agency poisoned by politics.

It amazes me to think how oblivious politicians are to the relationship between immigration and the economy. Legalizing millions would create a TON of jobs as starting a business would be legal and taxable. Reduce handout programs and create tax incentives, and you pretty much have a recipe for continuing the economic recovery.

I've read that a few times before too. And that is politically true and makes sense politically. But how he is going to pass anything immigration in the next 2 years unless its more border funding with potential new 5+ tea party republicans in the senate and potential republican majority in the house.. I have no idea.

If the friends and family of hispanic voters are happy, the Democratic party will be happy. If the friends and family of hispanic voters are NOT happy then democrats can wish their seats goodbye!

yeah, I think it was reformimmigrationforamerica.org that had that tax revenue counter that said that over 1 trillion dollars in tax revenue could have been made if CIR would have passed since Jan 1, 2010. This was back in early august I think. It was ridiculous seeing that number get higher and higher as the weeks went by.

I hope the Democrats realize that this is their best chance to secure the Latino vote not only in the upcoming election, but also in the presidential election a couple of years from now. The chances of CIR passing will become even slimmer in the next Congress. They have to do something now because they will no longer have the opportunity to please Latino voters in the next couple of years.
