"No, no, I don't want that for New Mexico,"

"...she will try to repeal a state law that allows illegal immigrants to obtain driver's licenses."

so there's good and bad news for NM dreamers

Both Democrat and Republican candidates were going to get rid of that law, the only diff. is that Martinez wants to revoke all the licenses already issued.
I was afraid of Martinez trying to do something similar to SB1070 since I just moved from Arizona, and read in my school newspaper that she was in favor of 1070, but I guess she changed her mind or changed her words just for Univision (of course)
The only reason why people voted for Martinez is because Denish associated herself with Richardson way too much, and people were tired of Richardson.

In 2011 the Real ID Act is going to be enabled at the federal level, which means ALL states will require proof of legal presence. So I would agree with "Mona Lisa," the new governor is stupid to block the current law, since it will be repealed automatically.

Note: When I say ALL states, I don't mean Utah. Utah has something called a "driving privilege card" solely for illegal immigrants. However, it is useless because it is not valid outside the state of Utah and it cannot be used as a proof of identity (Just for Driving.)

Why, just general fatigue or policy reasons?
