... Reid has said he’s confident that he’s got Democrats behind him, which would actually mean he’d only need the support of two Republicans....
If he does have the vote of all the democrats, then that should simplify things and would mean that we need just 2 republicans to vote yes, otherwise, we might need more like 6-11 republicans to vote yes.

I'm confident he has all the Democrats behind him.

It's just the Republicans that I'm worried about.

So much for it being bipartisan don't u think so? I think it USED to be bipartisan. Now republicans are being dumb asses.

They claim they support it but first they want to secure the border AND THEN pass the DA. That's not supporting it in my book. Also What The Heck does securing the border mean????

I'm thinking that we should write a book about our struggle, so that even if the DA doesn't pass at least there is something written somewhere that will tell other future citizens about our struggle. This third class citizenship shit we get for "breaking the law" is BS. And besides not all dreamers broke the law if by braking it means coming without a visa. We love the place and the people, speak the same language and follow the country's values. This place, which happens to be the only home we know, is the place that saw us grow up. And they give us and continue to give us BS like "go back". Go back to where? To what?. It's like the mother that raises and watches her kids grow and then says go back. I for sure don't understand this. LOL.

How about sending it to the congress for them to read?

I think a couple years there would be people coming here seeking for stories to include in a book about the dream act, or seeking people to interview for a report on the dream act or to make documentaries.

Wonder why I have not seen anyone else doing anything like that anymore.

They are more concerned with the economy, however, immigration is also somewhere in their list of concerns, specially among the latin community where "al punto" showed a poll placing immigration a very close second under the economy as the topic of most concern among the latin community.

Here is the thing that interested me about the article I posted up. If its true that reid has all the democrats willing to vote for the DA, then the chances are very good that it will pass, there are some republicans that demonstrated their interest in voting for the DA only if it was a stand alone, well, here is their chance to vote for the DA as a stand alone, on that I come up with 61 votes in favor, with two republicans that stated they would be in favor, and its not counting the on-the-fence republicans.

However, if reid does not have all the votes for the democrats, then this becomes a very tough battle where the on-the-fence republicans will matter and it will be up to them whether this will pass. And hopefully everyone is interested in voting this lame duck session, specially those that will be replaced, and I hope that those replaced will see the benefit in supporting a bill that will with time generate 2 million new voters and put them in a very favorable light among the latino population that has generated a vote statistic which was credited with winning some of the elections that would have been lost otherwise.

politicians don't read LOL

they claim they have to "look it over very closely". WHAT IS THERE TO LOOK AT! it's clear as day, in my opinion.

but yea, the book idea is, in fact, a great idea, kind of like "Chicken Soup for the Soul", except with more of a political outlook.

It looks like the Lame Duck session will be dominated by the Bush Tax cuts. Perhaps, if Reid attached the Dream Act to a bill granting tax cuts to the rich, then we will have Republican support.
