On November 2nd, Latino voters helped Harry Reid and a number of other Democrats, including Arizona’s Raul Grijalva win re-election. Reid, aware he owes a “political debt” to Latino voters, will make a final attempt to pass legislation that would allowillegal immigrants brought to the United States as children to earn legal status if they attend college or serve in the U.S. military. Passing this legislation now, while Democrats still hold the House, may be the Dream Acts only chance of seeing fruition.

“Since it was first introduced in 2001, the Dream Act has passed the Senate Judiciary Committee four times. It passed the full Senate in 2006 as part of a comprehensive immigration-reform bill, but it died when the House failed to take up reform. The House has never passed it. In September, Senate supporters fell four votes shy of the 60 votes needed to end a Republican filibuster.” [Arizona Republic, 11/12/2010]

Democrats have held the House since 2006; in 2008 Democrats won the Senate majority and the Presidency. For the past two years Democrats had all the power, yet immigration reform remains unsettled.

Attempting to pass controversial legislation in a lame duck session is nothing new; however the Democrats track record on immigration reform has been a disappointing failure and given that failure it is highly unlikely that anything will change in the next month and a half. But be assured that Harry Reid will make a very public show of working towards immigration reform, not because he thinks it will pass but rather because his political career depends on it.

Nothing new here. Which is why I said I honestly didn't care if he won! I dont think any of the really care, including Obama, who was one of the senators holding the DREAM back, but went on to do bigger and better things.

This is one of those things that will make him look bad either way!!

Introduce it, and he will be called traitor, manipulator, and etc etc.
Not introduce it, Look above... ^^^^

So to question his sincerity is beyond me, but hey atleast he is "trying" to do something and in this case the "right" thing.
