After taking a look at the Democrats' stances on immigration reform, it is time to peek across the aisle. Even though the electorate is generally more concerned with jobs and social security, immigration will factor into the 2012 campaign -- in part, simply because a segment of the Democratic constituency expects it. Where do Republicans stand on the issue?

* "During the president's first visit to our nation's southern border, we hope he will finally see first-hand the continued security challenges facing all of those who live along our southwest border. We hear from our constituents on a daily basis, and, while some progress has been made in some areas, they do not believe the border is secure. In fact, a recent GAO report confirmed that the Border Patrol has operational control of only 44 percent of the southwest border." -- Joint statement by Arizona Republican Sens. Oh Sh**. I don't know if this is good news or not . . .It's a good sign?????? I was not expecting this.

Now that I look at the quote by Rep. John Boehner, I wonder if he is referring to the legalization of undocumented people who are all ready here when he says "retain." The article also presents Senator Graham in a more flexible position than before, having the interest to compromise on legalization and border security. Overall, the article presents influential Republicans as less rigid on immigration . . .

I'm most definitely sure that Boehner meant the International students who are STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, and Math) majors who graduate from US Universities, yet they go back to their countries after graduation. I'm sure he meant that he would like to see them stay here by making more work visas available to them.

Republicans like Sessions and Hatch give a bad name to their entire party. Otherwise I feel like Republicans could be brought on board with immigration reform. It is the Obama administration that is proving to be very weak. No leadership shown at all. Same goes for senators like Schumer who give up too easily. Durbin and Gutierrez are lone warriors for us atm.
