Hey guys....

since a lot of threads have been made about this, I found the most helpful source directly from USCIS themselves.

Quote:
In preparing your packet, please take note of the following:
- Do not use binders or folders that cannot be easily disassembled.Use ACCO fasteners to hold together thick or bulky applications or petitions.
- Two-hole punching the top of the material for easy placement in the file is appreciated.
- The use of tabs assist in locating items listed as attachments. The tabs should be placed on the bottom and not the side for ease in filing.
- Avoid using heavy-duty staples; instead use ACCO fasteners or heavy clips.
- Avoid submitting originals unless specifically required. Avoid submitting oversized documentation when possible.

EDIT: I BOLDed the final point since some still argue about the size of the documents to send. It also clears up whether or not to send original copies.

----------

EDIT 2: a lot of people are asking for the link of other topics in the site that has samples in it. I don't have the link to the thread, but have the link to the actual site that shows the sample, so I'm posting it...

SAMPLE PACKET....

NOTE: this is ONLY A SAMPLE from a guy filing "I-601 Grounds of Excludability", which IS NOT THE SAME as the one we are filing for, so DO NOT put that on your cover page.

Notice the last point, avoid submitting originals.

Many people want to submit their Official sealed High School Transcripts for authenticity and I don't think that's a good idea. If USCIS wants the original document, they will ask you for it.

Well if people feel more comfortable sending in sealed transcripts, let them. Its just going to be an envelope in an envelope... envelope-ception?

But I think we should do what it states rather than try to assert authenticity, hey, if they want a sealed document of that after they receive the copy, do that. But I am almost positive that they will not request a sealed document once they receive a copy of your transcript. They will verify those types of documents with the schools I'm guessing?

Who knows... for now I say just wait and see what the 8/15 form will state for applicants to do.

Yea, that's the best thing to do at the moment. No matter how much proof we gather, it all comes down to what absolutely need on the application.

Also regarding translations.

Quote:
Please submit certified translations for all foreign language documents. The translator must certify that s/he is competent to translate and that the translation is accurate.

The certification format should include the certifier's name, signature, address, and date of certification. A suggested format is:

Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

Signature_________________________________

Recognized authorities: Many I-129 petitions filed with evidence of the beneficiary's education or accomplishments include documentation submitted by various authorities. For example, petitions for artists and entertainers may incude evidence
Maybe they'll give me a GC if I let them know :P

Someone on another thread was stating that if you have a valid passport you won't need your birth certificate translated. not sure about other documents though.
