Bad economy + enhanced border security = the reason for the drop. I think it will rise after talks of CIR come in play next year.

maybe it has also stopped due to cartels taking over the coyotes job and charging too much money and sometimes killing the people and keeping them hostage for more money????

I don't think this is a reason. If anything, I think that'd make this type of immigration rise in numbers because they are more organized. There just isn't enough of an incentive to come here anymore economically.

Well from what I hear it is a reason. Its much riskier now than ever. I dont deny that its mainly because of economic reason and stricter laws though. I think it is very well the main reason but i'm sure there are other factors. up here where I live they have been struggling with their crops because there arent many immigrant workers and the high uppity white boys whining about no jobs dont have the balls to do farm work.

Its has been on the drop in last three years straight.

The stars are aligning for CIR/DA folks.

If Obama can't deliver in next two years, nobody will in the foreseeable future

The economy and border security had a lot to do with it. But on the bigger sense Mexico's population is changing fast. Immigration from that country will never be at the numbers that we saw in the past two decades. Mexicans are about to hit a point where the women don't even have enough kids to replace the population. If the Mexican and US governments can use this goldilocks moment where the North American population is not too big or too small we could see our best decades to come. Of course looking at this two governments one must doubt their ability to use this opportunity.
