Long story short, everything seems pretty chummy in the Senate, lol.
Quote:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called the immigration proposal made by the Gang of Eight a “good indication” that there is bipartisan support in the Senate for the bill.

“We’ve got a bipartisan group of senators who have been working on immigration reform,” McConnell said Tuesday. “I think that’s a good indication that there is a bipartisan desire to go forward.”

But he warned that Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the GOP ranking member, have both indicated the bill will be subject to amendments before it heads to the Senate floor.

“Predicting how one is going to vote on this package before it gets out of committee is something that I’m not prepared to do,” McConnell said. “There is obviously bipartisan desire to move forward on immigration legislation and my assumption is the majority leader will be doing that.”

Majority Leader Harry Reid indicated that he is not opposed to GOP efforts to require border security as part of an immigration deal.

“Every time I give a presentation I talk about what we need to have in immigration reform, comprehensive immigration reform and I always start by saying our borders, northern and southern, are secure,” Reid said.

I think McConnell is the perfect mirror image of Boehner. Both are leaders of their parties in both chambers. Both aren't considered as radical right wing Congressmen. To me, over the years both have come off as GOP Senators who could be willing to compromise with the Dems with immigration. I wouldn't be surprised if McConnell and Reid regularly play golf together. It would be a class act and voters would definitely remember if McConnell and Boehner can get their party together and compromise with CIR.

we just need a republican that supports CIR to pressure Bohner so softens his thought in the issue so when time is right it gets to the floor fast, and with his support
