RE: DREAM Act

Dear Honorable Senator,

I am writing to encourage you to become a co-sponsor of S. 774, the American DREAM Act. On July 25th, Juan and Alex Gomez, two students from Miami, Florida, were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and released a week later on a 45-day supervised release, thanks to the efforts of their friends lobbying in Congress. Juan and Alex are the epitome of what the DREAM Act represents: hope for thousands of talented and deserving young people whose presence greatly benefits our country.

This piece of legislation is definitively bipartisan. Currently, there are 25 co-sponsors of the DREAM Act including a number of Republicans and Democrats. Outside of the legislative arena, CNN anchor Lou Dobbs, a critic of illegal immigration and all forms of purported amnesty, stated that "...there's no question that there should be an exception made" for students such as Juan and Alex.

The DREAM Act would solely benefit students such as Juan and Alex, undocumented students who were brought here as children and did not make the decision to live in the U.S. They are young people trying to gain an American post-secondary education or serve in our armed forces; more importantly, they are hard-working individuals trying to better themselves and the future of this nation.

Personally, my vote is heavily dependent on your stance on this issue. The DREAM Act is more than an immigration issue; it is pertinent to education, national security, and economic growth. The story of the Gomez brothers has garnered national attention and widespread support. It has become an excellent catalyst for subsequent consideration of the DREAM Act. I hope you will lend your support to young people across the nation.

Respectfully,
A VOTING CITIZEN

Im using my old system and using this letter:

Dear «Name» :

Please support the "DREAM Act," (SA 2919 to HR 1585).

«Name», the Dream Act is NOT an Amnesty. The DREAM ACT is an Opportunity. There’s a BIG difference between Amnesty and Opprtunity. An Amnesty is a pardon, an automatic grant. An opportunity is a CHANCE to grow, to prosper and contribute and give back to our communities. It depends on the individual’s actions and his track record.

Hundreds of thousands of us would like to join the military to aid the President’s war against terror. Please Don’t turn your back on us!
The Dream Act now has an age limit of 30 years of age. Only young men and women are eligible.

Please do what you can to pass the "DREAM Act" by cosponsoring the amendment (SA 2919 to HR 1585)and by pushing for its passage this year.

Don’t turn your back on us!!!!
«Name», Give us a Chance!!!!
We need this chance, Support the DREAM ACT!!!!
