From the article:
Quote:
Cantor's plan would probably be more limited than the Dream Act that Democrats and some Republicans have backed and included as part of the Senate bill. The Dream Act would allow expedited citizenship for young people who serve in the military or attend college. Cantor has not specified who would be covered by his approach, but he seems likely to include only those immigrants who are still children, rather than young adults, who would be covered by the Democratic proposal.

Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho), a key conservative in the immigration debate, is also working on legislation focused on young immigrants here illegally. Other Republicans are discussing citizenship pathways for spouses of veterans or other special groups.

I understand the sentiment concerning House Republicans considering yesterday, but we really should wait for details and don't simply go by expectations alone. What interests me the most is that this wouldn't even be considered unless it pass muster with the so called 'Hastert rule'. I read another article that mentioned Rep. Issa believes Rep. Cantor will be the main individual pushing a variation of Dream act amongst the House GOP caucus.

Gutierrez is technically the main sponsor for Dream act in the House so this could get awkward going forward.I believed Issa mentioned they wanted to do this before August recess.

Bold claim by Issa, isn't August recess less than a month away...I have seen articles mentioning don't expect much of anything this month alone, then August recess pushes everything off until September...and then we have 4 months before the end of the year, and 4 months before CIR is used as political football again for another cycle.

You're right, take all information with a grain of salt. Here is the article he mentioned it.
Quote:
Lawmakers did seem open to allowing children who were brought here illegally to stay in the country.

“I personally think we could begin at least the process of addressing [that] before the August recess,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said of the so-called DREAMers.
I also wanted to say I think certain House Republicans are just saying this simply due to be what looks like non stop lobbying from Dream act groups if you've ever been around them.
