As I mentioned in another thread, past variations of Dream act have only passed comprehensively in the Senate and Piecemeal in the House....but the reality is this process seems uniquely advantageous to a Dream-like bill potentially passing both bodies in this 113th Congress....which has never happened before.

Cantor has mentioned his variation of Dream act will likely be the first 'legalization' bill considered in the House GOP piecemeal process by starting in the Judiciary.I believe another article mentioned there is likely to be a House Judiciary hearing on the bill sometime this month or so.If the GOP does go ahead with this we must solidify the House Judiciary numbers for the legislation to be fair if possible.

Of course the devil is in the 'details',but the issue that I have is that many individuals have already given up on how 'strict it is going to be' when legislative language has not been written yet.If you feel that way,why not just contact Majority leader Cantor and Chairman Godlatte while the legal language is still being written?
Quote:
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House Republicans will need Democrats' help to pass an immigration reform bill that can also pass the Senate, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) said.

Cohen's comments on Friday follow Boehner's vow not to bring an immigration bill to the floor if it does not have the support of a majority of House Republicans, an approach called the "Hastert Rule."

"I don't know how they're going to come up with a majority of the majority and they're going to get a bill that they can pass and that would work with the Senate," Cohen said in an interview with C-SPAN. "I think they're going to have to have Democratic votes."

The focus on passing immigration reform has moved to the House after the Senate recently passed a bipartisan immigration reform proposal that offers a pathway to citizenship and also doubles fencing and border patrol agents along the U.S.-Mexico border. A number of House Republican lawmakers have argued that their chamber should ignore the Senate bill and seek to pass immigration reform as a set of smaller bills.

Cohen argued that it may also be difficult to rally a majority of House Republicans behind an immigration bill because some of them don't think it's necessary to reform the nation's immigration system.

"Some of the Republicans in the Tea Party don't think that's necessary," Cohen said. "They don't think that conventional wisdom is correct and they need to do that and some of them don't care because they're concerned, as most politicians are, about their own political stake and their own district. So it may be difficult for them to get a majority of the majority bill that can pass the Senate and the House both and become law."

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) are drafting legislation that would offer citizenship to immigrant children who came to the country illegally through their parents. The bill, according to Cantor's office, is the "early stages" and will be the first proposal by House Republicans to reform a major part of the nation's immigration system.

^I think Dream act might actually have gotten over the 'Hastert rule' set out by Boehner or they wouldn't even be considering writing legislation for it.Having said that,we might actually be well over 218 on the House floor already. The biggest issue I think will be how strict the legislation is that Cantor and Goodlatte are writing and trying to defeat harsh amendments in the House Judiciary if Goodlatte starts the mark-up process.

The issues I think that need to be insisted upon are the no age-cap and path to citizenship.
