Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) - House Speaker John Boehner says it was "deeply offensive and wrong" for fellow Republican Rep. Steve King to suggest many younger unauthorized immigrants are drug runners.

Boehner already had issued a written statement earlier in the week condemning King's comments, but at his weekly news conference Thursday he elevated his criticism and took the unusual step of calling King out by name.

Boehner said the Iowa Republican's comments don't reflect the values of the American people or the GOP.

King told a conservative news website that with respect to immigrants brought illegally to the U.S. as kids, "for every one who's a valedictorian, there's another 100 out there that weigh 130 pounds and they've got calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert."

This is a good sign... Republicans are pushing back against the rhetoric instead of embracing it. I think hell just froze over.

Steve King will be the end of the Republican party. They need to disown him.

King will win this for us, media will elevate it and the Republicans will pass some type of CIR, wishful thinking of course.

I tend to think that Republican politicians are slow to learn. Perhaps they need to be beaten in another presidential election before the lesson truly sinks in, that they can't politically afford to be viewed as hostile toward minorities and immigrants, at least not openly.

People have been talking about republicans for a long time so no these people will never learn

The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it.

This is a good idea. The democrats would love this.

Although, I do enjoy watching all the rats turn on each other.
