2face and I are optimistic that Trump might act pragmatically on immigration IF we put the pressure on. These are his words; we need to hold him accountable for them. Keep in mind that he declared this a month before the election.

Donald Trump says he's open to allowing undocumented immigrants to serve in the U.S. armed forces.

During a military-themed forum on NBC News Wednesday night, the GOP presidential nominee was asked whether he believes that an undocumented person who wants to serve in the U.S. armed forces deserves to stay in the country legally.

"I think when you serve in the armed forces, that's a very special situation and I could see myself working that out, absolutely," Trump replied.

The questioner, a woman who served in the military, clarified that she meant she was referring to an illegal immigrant who plans to serve, not already serving.

"Military's a very special thing," Trump said. "If they plan on serving, if they get in, I would absolutely hold those people—"

The billionaire looked uncomfortable, and began to modulate his language, balancing the potential military service of illegal immigrants against the hardline immigration positions that have taken him so far in the race.

"Now we have to be very careful, we have to vet very carefully, everybody would agree with that," Trump said.

"But the answer is it would be a very special circumstance, yes."

One thing I could see potentially screwing us over would be democrats wanting more, on this or any other piece of legislation proposed by republicans.

I'll be honest, Democrat or Republican, this dick measuring contest is really what's screwing us right now.

I'm an engineer working on my master's part time. Electrical engineer to be precise.

Do I really have to do the whole boot camp? Don't they elect educated individuals to do something else other than kill people.

I'm very ignorant on the whole army enlisting that's why I'm asking.

Don't worry about this yet. What 2face and I are trying to emphasize is that Trump may pressure congress to pass immigration reform. Wait and see until something is passed and signed into law.

sorry to bring your hopes down guys... but the thing is military has been cutting down in recent years and there are already plenty of F-1 and other immigrant folks who want to serve in the military. (for FY16 there were 5000 MAVNI spots which filled up in August 2016 - 2 months before the end of FY16)
