55 detained in Mississippi restaurant immigration raids
Sarah Fowler , The Clarion-Ledger Published 10:38 a.m. CT Feb. 23, 2017 | Updated 45 minutes ago

Byrd would not give specifics on those taken into custody, including gender. However, he said all of the 55 detained were restaurant employees. Byrd did not have an immediate breakdown of how many people were detained at each restaurant.

All of the 55 were undocumented.

The majority of restaurants affected were part of the Ichiban chain, Byrd said. The raids occurred in Jackson, Flowood, Pearl and Meridian. A China Buffett in Pearl was also a target of the search warrants.

China Buffet II and Sake Sushi were the two Meridian restaurants involved, according to The Meridian Star.
Yup, workplace immigration raids have returned.

There are a lot of farm jobs in the South, hence lots of undocumented workers.

Don't forget, immigrants are not the only group organized when it comes to immigration, there are a lot of racist people out there getting together to hunt us.

According to Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Thomas Byrd, the raids Wednesday were the result of federal criminal search warrants as part of a year-long investigation.
