I just received a letter stating I am a delinquent juror, because I didn't send in my juror questionnaire.

Now I know what these questionnaires are, as I seem to receive them yearly, and I always fill them out and mail them no later than a week after I receive them in the mail, and I have not received one this year so far except for this delinquent juror notice.

I don't know wtf is going on, but I guess the first notice was lost in the mail somewhere as I never received it.

This delinquency notice pisses me off, because I can't control the USPS. Does this delinquent juror status mean I have now accrued a misdemeanor or something?? I AM SO FUCKING NERVOUS AND PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW...I make sure that I keep a clean record my entire life, and now I have to deal with this because of not receiving a simple letter???

Now this second notice is telling me to fill it out and send it before April, but I need advice on how to cover my ass.

I was thinking about filling it out and providing a copy of my ID and then sending it by USPS next day with signature required and all the bells and whistles. I am also thinking about keeping a copy of the form I filled out with my signature, and then keeping it with my tracking information in a file in case I run into some problem again where they say they still did not receive it?

Is there anything else I should be doing to protect myself??

It also looks like I can complete this questionnaire online, so I was thinking about doing that AND sending it via mail also.

I hope completing it multiple times doesn't conflict with anything, but I figure the more places I complete this questionnaire, the better.

Oh I am doing it yesterday, that's a definite.

I just need advice on how to cover my ass on all sides, in case I get some BS in the mail that they have not received anything from me and then I have to appear in court to provide proof that I did indeed respond to the questionnaire.

Oh btw, this is not even a case, just a questionnaire to show that I am not eligible for jury duty.

So far I plan on:

1) Filling out the questionnaire online

2) Sending this physical letter of the questionnaire completed with a copy of my ID by USPS Next Day with Signature required

3) Keep a copy of the physical letter signed and completed, with the USPS tracking details, and a printed out version of the tracking showing the signature and the address it was delivered to

I guess in my state is differently. You get sent the notice about jury duty then respond. They give you a case number, you go online type your Washington ID and respond there. Then after you give them a reason obviously not being a USC then your profile gets updated so they won't send you anymore.

Makes sense, I am in NY...and it seems I have a juror ID #, but that's about it...and you basically have to hope that they receive this completed form so they don't bug you again for another year or so.

But I guess this time, since it got lost in the mail, I am now stuck with this delinquent juror warning notice.

I just hope this delinquent juror thing isn't a misdemeanor or something, or I will be mega pissed.

I don't want to say it isn't a big deal because it might affect that "good moral" part we have seen from "RACA" but according to this Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/legaladvice...m=comment_list

If you get another one then it's going to court

You absolutely have to fill out this second notice, or it could turn into a bench warrant. Most give you the option of not being eligible for jury duty simply because you are not a US citizen. Try to see if you can include a copy of your EAD and A-number.

It might be best to do online AND in person to explain the situation.

I had the same issue multiple times. It is nominal when you get a social and they choose your name at random.

OK I just completed the questionnaire online, and I printed out the completion proof, and an additional proof page that the questionnaire has already been entered.

But I am not stopping there, I will be going to the post office on Monday and sending out the completed physical form with full tracking and signature requirements. The physical form also requires a copy of my EAD, which I will provide also.

I am covering all my bases as best as possible.

Worst case scenario, they send me another mail that they never received anything (which would be unbelievable beyond words), then I go to court and prove my case there.
