Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he can “confidently predict” the debt ceiling will not be connected to December spending decisions. And on healthcare, he admitted that “the way forward, at least as of today, is not clear.”

Can someone explain if and how it could impact DA? Since Dems are looking for leverage with the debt ceiling.

Guys, DreamAct needs to be voted on this month or early October at the most.

It will take months for new applications to be processed; for those with expiration dates beyond 3/5 to reapply for EADs, employers will have operations disrupted, and the primaries begin April 2018.

December is too late. New legislation requires a comment period as well, so that would push the application period further.

Someone ELI5 please, I thought they needed to revisit in 3 months?

Btw Fuck McConnel, him and Sessions are Satan himself. Holy fuck, it's like they do everything in their power not only against us, but their own voters.

He's apparently taking debt ceiling into the midterms, most likely a bluff though.

Either way they still need to pass budget bill.

Yes, that would be ideal but let us be realistic about this and not sound like brats. I know some people might loose DACA for a short amount of time. I might be part of that group..but it is worth it if a bigger dream (like DA) comes true.

Lets continue pushing for it but also be cautious in the tone of our request.

No one will expire, if DA passes and we can't apply until April or the summer, Trump will extend the program a few more months. Mark my word!!!

Even if extended, it would be too late for some to apply for renewal before expiring. If it doesn't get done soon, people will expire as soon as March no matter what.

If Trump decides to extend DACA another 6 months on March 5 and I expire on March 6, I would be out of status for 3-4 months that it takes for renewal. Trump can extend DACA but not our EADs.

USCIS can issue a memo extending the expiration date on EADs, as they do with TPS.

See this:

Quote:
Automatic Employment Authorization Document (EAD) Extension

Sometimes DHS must issue a blanket automatic extension of the expiring EADs for TPS beneficiaries of a specific country in order to allow time for EADs with new validity dates to be issued. If your country’s EADs have been automatically extended, it will be indicated on your country specific pages to the left.
