A majority of voters want Congress to pass legislation that allows undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to become citizens if they meet certain requirements, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll conducted following the Trump administration’s decision to wind down the program protecting these so-called Dreamers from deportation.

Even the very conservative Rasmussen poll agrees

Quote:
The president has challenged Congress to come up with a long overdue comprehensive reform of the nation's immigration laws in the next six months, but voters remain skeptical that real border control is on the way.

Meanwhile, voters are less convinced that illegal immigrants take jobs away from Americans and tend to favor the continuation of an Obama-era program that protects from deportation illegal immigrants who came here as children.

The problem with that is that you are essentially creating second class citizens. You can't have residency and not being able to become a citizen down the road, they'd have to have a special status for us.

That being said, being here legally is better than not being here at all. As long as that status cannot be taken away, I am sure most of us will find a way to become residents and eventually citizens. I don't agree they should bar us from ever becoming citizens though.

I understand, but remember that if people keep mentioning "path to citizenship" instead of "residency" we might lose some republican voter support, get me?
