House GOP leaders vow no deals with Democrats on stopgap spending

But the trouble could come with the vote on a second stopgap just before the Christmas holiday, when Democrats would be expected to make more demands such as an agreement on how to treat DREAMers, young undocumented immigrants. If GOP leaders in the lower chamber stay true to their promises to the likes of the House Freedom Caucus, the game plan could result in shutdown-spurring deadlock right before lawmakers plan to leave town for the holidays.

Some conservatives in the House are betting pressure to fund the Pentagon would be just enough to convince a handful of red-state Democrats to vote in support of a second government funding bill later this month.

If the military funding isn’t enough, House Republicans are tossing around another bargaining chip: a disaster aid package. That bill would include tens of billions of dollars for storm-ravaged Florida, Texas, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, making it tougher for Democrats to oppose.

Another must-pass item, funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program, could also be added to the bill, lawmakers said.

“Is the Senate going to turn around, Christmas or New Year’s, and say we’re not going to take care of the defense of America, we’re not going to take care of these people with these hurricanes?” Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-Ala.) said. “If they are, then it’s on them.”

The comments on that article shows that people know the GOP will be blamed , not democrats. GOP is trying to bluff their way out of this .

Basically they will address all the issues but DACA? Trump needs democrats that is why they have a second meeting. The senate will need 60 votes and as the midterms are coming up doubt any democrat would step out of line and vote for a spending bill without a DACA fix.

@ChadPergram

House/Senate GOP ldrs have still not set a formal length for the next funding bill which must be passed by Friday night. But the thought now on CapHill is the only option is a clean CR thru Dec 22 with no DACA or disaster funding.

Freedom Caucus now pushing a plan to handle 11 appropriations bills in the CR..but break apart defense on its own. Would bolster military funding & bust mandatory spending caps imposed by sequestration

I think the GOP is gonna test the Dems with the CR, they will add other items that Dems want except DA and dare Dems not to vote for it.

Why the fuck is Schumer undermining Sen.Durbin's efforts by telling the media that a"clean stopgap bill or continuing resolution until 12/22" is okay????

If he plans to vote for a continuing resolution, DreamAct will HAVE to be attached to it.
Enough. Enough of the political shenanigans. Enough playing with people's lives.
