I'm new here and I just had a quick question. I'm kind of scared right now because a lot of what I hear when it comes to legalizing dreamers is daca recipients. I fully qualified for Daca (arrived december 2002 at age 4, no run ins with cops, never left the country etc) but i never applied because of economic issues and the fact that my older brother was top priority since he was of working age and already graduated. I was going to apply last june when i turned 18 but they advised not to and wait till the election in case of anything. After Trump won we decided not to apply and wait it out to see if he said anything concrete when it came to Daca. So now I'm in an anxious state since I feel I may be left out of any proposed dreamer legislation. Does anyone know anything concerning this? I feel crippled and it's hard to function and stay focused on my academic goals with this in the back of my mind. I know I qualify for most bills like DA and succeed act.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Here's the thing, there isn't any legislation up for debate/vote right now. Regardless, if I were you, I wouldn't worry about any of this right now, you should focus on your academics. More than likely you would qualify for any legislation that is passed, but won't know for certain until there is something being proposed. It's highly unlikely that you would be left out.

It's always a great idea to call your senators and representatives and voice your opinion that a permanent DACA fix with a pathway to citizenship needs to be passed and you want them to support such legislation.

Thanks for the reassurance. I shit my pants every time I read "fix for daca recipients," I feel like Trump may make a last minute demand and leave all of us daca eligible people who didn't apply out.

I believe if DA passes you would qualify like the rest of us as long as you meet the requirements. I dont think its only for current DACA recipients. Be careful when seeking advice, lawyers were telling people not to apply under Trump when it didn't make sense not to apply until he announced the cancellation of it. You much better of getting advice from people on here who have good knowledge of the program and regulations.

Thanks. I feel so betrayed by these phony fucking pieces of shit like advancing justice who advised me not to apply because "we don't know what Trump might do." Man I'm so mad right now. I had about $900 in total and i could've done it.

Were you advised by individuals or groups? If groups you should expose who they are. No org should be advising you not to apply for a benefit.

Wow, very weird. I came to America in 2002, have a younger brother, and he is also born in 1998.
(But he applied for DACA).

OP - you should be included.
