Okay, people. I know you are busy and I know you have a billion things to do. Still, if you don't do this for me, your dear friend optimist, at least do it for Mark Silverman who is busting his ass for you all. This is important for various political reasons. Besides Agjobs, the only legislation with real chances of getting done is the Dream Act. Other than deport everybody. Realy, faxing, e-mailing or calling shouldn't be a huge burden on you. If all the active members of this forum do it, you as a group, are going to have a greater impact. Feinstein is important because she has good relationships with grassroots organizations that support fair immigration reform. That is the reason why she suports the Dream Act, not because she feels is right but because it is on her best interest. The grassroots organizations are doing this thinking on a picture bigger than just helping some student. Stop thinking about fair or unfair or what you can or can't do and just do something...anything. I am not doing this out of my good bone. i do it because I have to and that should be the bottom line for everybody.

Yes. Here's the sample letter text:

U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein
One Post Street, Suite 2450
San Francisco, CA 94104
Fax: (415) 393-0710 or 415 989 3242

United States Senate

Washington, D.C. 20510
Fax: (202) 228-3954

RE: VALEDICTORIAN ARTHUR MKOYAN DEPORTATION

Dear Senator Feinstein,

I urge you to immediately introduce a Private Bill
into the Senate to stop the imminent deportation of
this year's Bullard High School Valedictorian Arthur
Mkoyan, Immigration and Customs Enforcement case
number A70-783-979.

This coming Tuesday, Arthur will graduate as
Valedictorian of a Fresno public magnet high school
class of 562 students. Unfortunately, Arthur and his
family are scheduled to be deported shortly
thereafter. Arthur has already been accepted to begin
college at UC Davis in the fall, and plans to study
Chemistry. As an American, I am personally encouraged
that we have talented, science-inclined young people
like Arthur in our country.

Senator Feinstein, your timely intervention is both
appropriate and critical. I implore you to introduce
the Private Bill this week so that we can keep an
intellectually gifted young person and his loving, law
abiding family in our state. Thank you for your
consideration.

Sincerely,

***

Thanks for posting this. By the way, you can also send Arthur an e-mail with your letter and he'll forward it to Senator Feinstein, if that's easier for some of you. PM me and I'll give you his e-mail address, since I don't want to give it away in a public forum, even though he told reporters to publicize it. I sent mine yesterday.

I hope a lot of us are able to do this, as I'm sure we would like as many people as possible to help us if we were in his situation.

Added more stuff and faxed . People we need to do this. We have to jam their fax lines so they get our point. Like these anti immigrants group did to fail the CIR bill. All they did was just kept on sending the faxes and kept on calling. We need to adopt the same stratagy. It's a shame that our leaders have lost the sense to differentiate between right and wrong thing to do and what will benefit the country. We need a strong leader who don't get pressurized by these stupid anti pundits and anti groups and can make a right decision. Just a thought.

Done. And I put it on as many pro-migrant blogs as possible.

Senator tries to keep valedictorian from deportation

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/US/06/11...valedictorian/

Looks our efforts have had an impact on halting Arthur's deportation, this type of media helps garner and remind congress of the need to pass the Dream Act.
