Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday said Democrats don’t want to include more than $1.6 billion on border security in a year-end spending deal, putting them at odds with Republicans who are floating a plan to spend $5 billion to fund President Trump's border wall over two years.

Schumer told reporters at the Capitol that the Trump administration has yet to spend “a penny” of the $1.3 billion Congress appropriated for border security for fiscal 2018, which ended on Sept. 30.

He said Democratic and Republican leaders in Congress could reach a deal on government funding if they're allowed to negotiate the must-pass spending package without interference from Trump. Congress is facing a Dec. 7 deadline to pass legislation that would avoid a partial government shutdown.

Sad! How can Trump not get involved if he's the one to sign the spending bill?

Chuck “build the wall Schumer”. Why are Senate dems giving any money to the “wall”. Does anyone know how the money is being appropriated? Is it all going to a physical wall or is it going to be used for more detention beds, ICE agents etc etc

If he has not spend the 1.3 billion that was allocated for this year, why are you giving him another 1.6 billion dollars? DO NOT INCLUDE ANYTHING! Unless of course they also include Dream Act, Bridge Act or whatever... I really do not think that anything is going to come out of the next congress... They will pass the dream act in the house, but it will die in the senate and etc. .... S A D

Complete insanity. Dems should either provide NOTHING or $5B in exchange for legalization. It’s just beyond me why they’re willing to give the stupid $1.9B.

Chuck is all about 2020. He threw us under the bus again.

If he gives no money, Trump will use that against him in 2020 to say the Democrats are weak on the border and cruise to a win.

He can't also give alot of money because it will make Trump a winner and piss off all his little liberal donators.

So, he chooses the middle ground.

He gives some money to pretend that the Democrats care about the border but not enough money to fully fund the wall!

Very slick, Chuck!

Trump has been saying democrats are weak on the border for the last two years and he made immigration an issue this election but republicans lost the house by 9 million votes. Therefore I don’t think he’s going to cruise to a win in 2020 on the border wall or hardline immigration in general.

Electoral College is what matters.

Cuck Schumer gives one billion here, one billion there. Without asking for DA in return. Soon Trump will have his full 5bln.

Dreamers getting DP'd by GOP and Dems.
