deal to re-open government by trading border wall funding for immigration benefits for so-called “Dreamers” doesn’t stand a chance in the House, according to legislators on both sides of the aisle.

House Democrats say they don't trust President Trump to keep his end of any bargain, and are wary of negotiating a deal that could benefit those in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program while throwing other undocumented immigrants under the bus.

"Many of us, Democrats and Republicans, want to find a solution to this, and the White House has never been supportive of that," said Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.), a moderate who worked out a Dreamers-for-wall deal with Rep. Will Hurd (R-Texas) last summer.

Ocasio-Cortez said "the administration is grasping at straws."

"I don't know if it's because they're trying to cover for the fact that they can't even offer that — we're going to reject it. We're not going to exchange DACA for a wall. We're not going to save one part of a family to expend another part. We're not going to separate families. They know we're not going to separate families, they know we're not going to tolerate that deal and right now they're just grasping for an excuse to not offer it because they know we're going to reject it," she said.

how the fuck does an inanimate object separate families?
sounds like both of them are just grasping at straws at this point.

Ocasio-Cortez was elected because she was female, not on merit, or even intelligence. She is a pretty face, nothing more, there are spiderwebs in her head.

She is the face of the dems attempting to appear popular and a futile attempt to excite the young into voting against their own interests.

She is also hugely anti-semitic.

Those 20+ plus years of the DREAM struggle reset with Ocasio. Don’t get me wrong, she is hot AF, but people like her will now desmand full blown relief for everyone, not just dreamers. Fellas, I wish you luck, but I get off here; The marriage, Juarez stop! Best of luck!

Ocasio-Cortez is doing something way more important, she's dragging the party by its hair to the left, same how Tea Party and Freedom Caucus drew republicans far to the right. She's also giving the conservative morons someone else to fire at instead of constantly bashing Pelosi.

I don't know about you but I am tired of having a center to right party and right to fascist party with no actual left.

Also in the end the decision to put up a bill to the vote and whip up the votes is up to Pelosi, not to Ocasio-Cortez, if she votes no - fine, democrats can have 16 congressmen vote no and still pass it along party lines.

Yeah she was elected by foot fetishists and not you know, grassroots campaigning to dethrone Joe Crowley, the Chair of House Democratic Caucus, the 4th ranking democrat in the house, in the primary.

Citation needed on the bolded part and anyways since when do you give a flying fuck about jews? Yesterday you were talking about Hitler's jewish driver and stopped maybe two steps before announcing that the holocaust didn't happen.

If you're talking about the general then this is NYC, only swing district here we have is the 11th which covers Staten Island and no republican here will ever get elected.

So, dragging it to the left is very important? How far to the left? I think you’d love Venezuela! Send us selfies !

what an idiot. Though I don't see a Dream act for wall deal happening the longer this drags out. The dems are just going to get more pissed off and feel more betrayed the longer the shut down lasts. The GOP will just blame the shutdown regardless so their opinion on this doesn't matter.
