Source: https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2019...-are-miserable

The article itself is on another topic but the interesting parts:

Quote:
Four sources said the only White House advisers he truly consults are daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Quote:
One source briefed on the internal debate said that Mulvaney is advising Trump to accept less than his demand of $5 billion and make up the difference by shuffling money around the existing budget. “Mick wants to re-program existing funds,” the source said. Trump has insisted he won’t compromise, but he faces no good options, with a G.O.P. revolt likely if he goes the national-emergency route. “Trump is going to declare whatever happens a victory,” a former West Wing official said.

The only person he listens to regarding immigration is Stephen Miller.

I'm inclined to believe that Miller has less influence. He was not explicitly tasked with immigration issues during the Jan. shutdown. Plus his buddy Sessions resigned.

Let's see what happens on Feb. 15th.

Miller wrote Trump's speech that he gave on January 7 while the government was shut down. In that speech Trump reiterated the need for a Wall and said that immigrants drain public resources and keep wages down.

Jared and Pence were supposedly negotiating a deal with congress before Trump told them to GTFO. Jared was floating around the idea of adding DACA to the mix and nothing came out of it.

He also mocked Jared on "becoming an expert on immigration overnight". Literally everyone outside of Miller, Bannon and Kelly told him to accept Wall for DACA since last year. The problem is Trump.

That was what he said but his tone was in a joking manner. If he said that the say way he blasts dems I'd agree with you.

He said it condescendingly. Everyone who's ever worked with him and left says he doesn't listen to their advice if he's already made up his mind on something. That's exactly why Mattis left, he does what he wants and has ultimate say in everything he does.

So that implies that at least Jared is pushing for DACA legalization right? Even though the president seems to be set on waiting for SCOTUS.
