We should try to organize a event directed at tackling misinformation about the Dream Act. Most people would support our cause if they knew the REAL facts and not the twisted crap that the conservative radio hosts like to spew out.

I read the "weapon of mass information" thread written by J6 and I think it would be very effective if we could come up with a flyer contest where we have people submit their designs for flyers that try to clarify some of the lies using actual quotes from Dream Act as well as from other respected newspapers and articles. We can then print as many flyers as possible.

We can also contact the media as a group and try to raise awareness. This event should take place after the 2008 election when the general immigration hype starts building. We should try to take advantage of social groups such as Facebook and Twitter to spread our word.

I believe that we should also coordinate with other Dream Act groups and immigration reform activist in terms of funding and such.

I know that there is a lot more we can do and I ask all the members here to pitch in to refine my ideas as well as offer new ones. I'm just a junior member but if we can get something like this going in New York City, it will definitely generate a lot of attention. What do you guys think?

Not just last year, in fact there is a big hunger strike going on in CA as we speak.

Everyone should be signing the pledge and passing it on. The Rise Movement

As to this thread, don't limit it to something just for NYC residents, many people can do things behind the scenes to help you local people out. Also do a quick Google search (or even on this site) as I think there are already several local NYC Dream groups (i.e. well organized on the ground groups).
