Idea/brainstorm for getting Oprah

Ive seen this mentioned on various threads, but none really materialize into anything.

Contacting Oprah. Now, before we discard this, hear me out. I think this is a viable option, if and only if we take a similar approach to how we got organized on Change.org.

If we email her, and get our friends and family to do so, then her show's in box would have a disproportionate amount of pro DREAM act emails.

I'm aware that they must get emails from everyone and their grandmother, but if we get organized then i'm sure we can gain the attention of a produce or such. The publicity we would get would be tremendous, and we could emphasize DREAM as standalone.

Anyhow i just posted this for feedback and brainstorming.

If anyone is actually serious about doing this then they need to invest a lot of time into it. Set up a recorder and record a few weeks worth of her shows, find out which episodes are similar to DREAM or would even semi-relate to it. Then pay attention and see who the producer is for that specific episode as each topic has it's own producer and so in the end there are going to be specific producers you are going to have to target.

Who is going to appear on the show if they are willing to do one? Before you even get that far though you'll have had to pitch the idea to em' and so you should already have this nailed down. Are you willing to appear on national t.v. and declare your status? Don't think that already out there DREAMies will do so, many of them are very busy with their own lives and find the idea of someone whoring them out quite displeasing.

Sending E-Mails will get you no where, they'll just delete them and think nothing of it. If you are serious about wanting to do this then you need to invest a lot of time into it and be willing to put yourself out there. Instead of E-Mailing you'll need to start calling and so on.

What would be the overall goal of this project, what is the end result you are aiming for? Of course this is something you'll need to nail down for the sales pitch you are going to be putting together, after someone watches the show and then what?

This is not to knock this idea, just offering some feedback as this idea has been brought up DOZENS of times. Just in the last week, we've gotten several inquires from people saying "why don't we get Oprah" without realizing that this isn't just a "let's send some emails" kind of project.

If we keep calling, you think it might get to her? I really do think that we need media attention for this to pass. In the past Dream sorta flew under the radar, it is rarely mentioned on the news and almost no one knows about it, even in the liberal state of California. I think a public awareness or support from Oprah and do a lot of good.

I know we are sort of beating the same old bush, but this is our last year... It may be really worth a shot to do a calling spree for a week or so to demand some kind of attention. Is there anyone living in Oprah's studio area, I am guessing Chicago? If someone can maybe even physically go to their office and talk to them... I really think she would be compassionate to our situation if she knows about it.

As for sending people, we'll figure that out later. We'll send the best of the best, people with masters and wut not from our group. I remember the show 30 days and few other shows that the Dreamers did come out in public. I truly believe that this is our last year, if we can get together and try to get her on board... I think it is worth another try, even if we barely get a glance. With that being said I sort of want to wait till Dream gets introduced on the floor before we start calling, but then that's when we have to call everyone...

We will need a group of at least 10 dedicate people to attempt getting oprah attention. I'll be down to do it.

we should deff try to contact oprah, but not just her. if we really want to get our points across, we should really start contacting other big time shows. im on it!
ill see what other shows might be interested in promoting the dream act but i do need some suggestions asap!!
oh, and one more thing. i found a way to contact oprah and tyra. do i send them an email?
or what do you suggest? we need to come up with a letter to send them before anything else.

Hey guys I think I could be willing to do this, maybe even appear on the show if need be. If this going to really be done and we have a good group of ppl then let me know a few weeks ago i tried contacting telemundo I remember asking for a chance to speak a representative or to appear on their show but it was really complicated trying to contact them. However if other people were willing to do this with me in a group effort then I would be all for it.

So I am willing to be part of this, Pm me if we get this rolling along so we can devise a plan.
