Steve king and a path toward Citezenship????
Arizona U.S. Senator John McCain says he favors dealing with illegal immigrants already in the country before addressing the issue of immigration reform.
The Arizona Republican, who has long been an advocate for border security and tougher laws on undocumented immigrants, made the comment on Wednesday. “Once we get the border secured — and we can get the border secured — I would look forward to working on comprehensive immigration reform,” Mr. McCain said. Mr. McCain, who campaigned against President Obama’s immigration proposals, said he opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants, noting the need to “close the borders” before considering immigration reform policies. Mr. McCain explained his vote against the DREAM Act, saying the two parties have ” philosophical differences.” The comments come in the midst of a number of Republican Congressmen offering immigration reform proposals. Iowa Rep. Steve King says he will propose a bill aimed at targeting illegal immigrants and a path towards citizenship http://tucsoncitizen.com/usa-today-n...s-citizenship/ |

Well we can expect something more draconian than the 1996 policy aimed at future undocumented. However, in all honesty as long as I get my papers I don't care (yes, I know very republican of me) what enforcement provisions they will add to the bill.

Looking out for yourself and your family is the rational thing to do. True altruism is considered a mental disorder. There are thousands of Latino immigrants ineligible for the DA who do not want to see it passed because they think it hurts the chances of CIR and the DA can be used as a bargaining chip. Whether they are right or wrong, I could not care any less as long as whatever happens speeds up the process of me getting my papers. If they can get them too that's fine but if not, I'm not going to nail myself to a cross for somebody else. Why should I? McCain is just playing the game. We cannot vote, our activism falls on deaf ears, and the public in Arizona is against illegal immigration. If we can get his vote, all the better but I am not going to blame him for acting like it was expected of him by his constituents in the first place. Quote:
