How does being undocumented affect migration to another country?

Hi guys,

I finally decided that I want to move out of the country. I turned 21 this year, and I could no longer stand not being able to drive, get a loan to finance my studies, not being able to live a normal life, etc. Tomorrow I will be speaking with my counselor so I can apply to an Australian university. Now my question is (especially to those that have migrated to a different country), would living in the US as an undocumented alien (I have an overstayed visa) hurt my chances? I mean, why would a country accept a person who has a history of breaking another country's immigration law?

Thank you in advance.

I don't think it matters since your going to be applying as a citizen of your own country correct??

Plus if you have the money moving out of the country isn't a problem...

Good luck...

I remember researching Canada and them saying that having been undocumented in the US does not automatically disqualify you from applying to Canada. I assume it is the same for other countries.

Yes, I will keep you guys updated. Hopefully, after many tries of finding legal status here in the US and failing, this will bring a result that's favorable for myself.

Thank you guys for the replies. I appreciate the time and interest.

How do you pay for it? Did you apply here in the US or on your home country?

I want to attend MED-SCHOOL in Canada do you have any advice on how i can make that happen?

doubt you can get into med school directly as they canadian schools do not accept international students (I think)

I was looking at the visa form from S. Korea to Canada and read this: "If you have a history of breaking the immigration law in foreign countries, you should
submit the details of it with the application."

Anybody have any idea what this is about?

This is what I got from an Australian student visa website.

http://www.studyinaustralia.gov.au/S..._student_visas
"your immigration history e.g. previous compliance with immigration laws and whether you have previously applied for entry to Australia"

It makes me want to think twice of moving. My other choice is to stay here, finish my degree, and leave the US for good once I graduate. I believe the opportunites will be greater in Asia (HK/Singapore) than the US in the coming years.

I was denied a student visa to Canada because I could not prove that I could return to the country of exit (the US).

I think if I'd applied from my home country it would've been granted. Oh well.
