To CA DREAMERS
I know we CA dreamers who applied for Deferred Action are per-occupied with it.
But this is concerning the CA DREAM ACT. To any dreamer that is from cali. AND GOING TO A COMMUNITY COLLEGE. Has that community college granted you the BOG-Waiver for the coming winter and spring semesters for 2013. I have tried and tried taking to my community college financial aid office and they still have nothing :x regarding the ca dream act. I am just at a lost. I want o get the BOG-Waiver for the winter and spring but I need help from those that know or have talked to someone in their community college. Thanks. |
Re: To CA DREAMERS

I AM ASKING HAS ANYONE THAT GOES TO CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE HAVE ANY INFORMATION REGARDING THEIR FEES BEING WAIVED FOR THE UPCOMING WINTER AND SPRING SESSIONS. OR IF THEY HAVE TALKED TO SOMEONE IN THEIR COLLEGE AND HAS GIVEN THEM ANY NEW INFORMATION. |
Re: To CA DREAMERS
I'm in the same boat. I applied a while back though, when it passed. However, I have not heard anything since...
Is there any way that we can check that status? |

i know what the BOG waiver is. they probably have no idea what you're talking about because they don't know what the DREAM Act is. if you apply for the BOG waiver you should qualify for it. why don't you ask them when the BOG is applied instead of asking about the DREAM Act. |

"Your California Dream Application was successfully submitted on (blank). Your application information was sent to the college listed on the application. It is very important that you contact your campus Financial Aid office to ask what other forms or information they may need from you to determine your eligibility for student financial aid. The campus may require other forms and may have deadlines that you must meet. If you still have questions regarding your Dream Application, please contact CSAC’s Customer Relations Branch at 1-888-224-7268. The Customer Relations Branch fields calls Monday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 11:45 am and from 1:00 pm to 4:45 pm. " It says that I need to contact the schools to see what else they may need which is a complete hassle. |
Re: To CA DREAMERS
i'm on the same boat, i applied the first day the application came out. i walked in to the financial aid office to ask if i had to submit any additional paperwork and they just looked at me like "huh?" and they told me to go to the CSAC's website -_-

Re: To CA DREAMERS
Im currently attending a four year university, I actually had to call them to see what was going on with my application/process and they informed me that unfortunately, I would not be receiving any funding next Spring due to budget cuts and what not.
Try calling again (your financial aid office). |
Re: To CA DREAMERS
Should I go talk to my financial aid office about the app, I had no idea this started
|
Re: To CA DREAMERS
I think the issue here is the financial aid office at your school. Do you know when the office is set to report/ disburse funds for the Spring semester?
|
Re: To CA DREAMERS
One question, if I live with my sister and my parents are currently living in Mexico, would that be a problem since I cant provide their tax info?
|
Re: To CA DREAMERS
I applied as well, when I asked my financial aid department they tell me to wait till January but as far as I know you do need to apply for the BOG- waiver
|
Re: To CA DREAMERS
The financial aid office has nothing yet, and doubt they will anytime soon.
So AGAIN PLEASE, if anyone that goes to a california community college gets an update on thier CA DREAM ACT application let us know. |

Re: To CA DREAMERS
I know someone in the financial aid office in my school just waiting for that person's reply when I emailed for it. I heard from my friends who were disqualified said if you make above $21,000 a year you will be disqualified. That information is not confirmed so don't trust me on that.

"The 2012-2013 California Dream Act Application is now available at http://www.csac.ca.gov/dream_act.asp This application is for students who DO NOT meet the qualifications to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Our campus will begin the processing of "California Dream Act Application" or The AB 131 Institutional grants and community college fee waivers during Fall 2012 for the payment period beginning January 2013. Please visit our website as Fall 2012 semester gets near to receive additional processing guidelines." I got to ELAC |
Re: To CA DREAMERS
Too bad for me because this is my last semester before i graduate and get my bachelors degree.
|
Re: To CA DREAMERS
Just bugged financial aid office again and they basically told me that its not likely that they are going to give out any aid because there are no funds left, that they haven't processed applications yet but it doesn't look good.

Re: To CA DREAMERS
Damn. I applied back when the application was made available. I was asked to turn in proof of being enrolled in the SS back in early August. I did it not too long after and have not heard from the school yet. I have been emailing them, calling, and lastly walking in to the financial aid office in person. Originally they said it would take 6-8 weeks, but I am currently on week 10 and still nothing. I might have to give them a call again this upcoming Monday.
I really really really hope I won't get told that I will not be receiving any aid. This would be quite devastating and I might have to take a semester off, which I absolutely do not want to do, other wise I will push my graduation by another year. |
