After two years
Our EADs supposably expire. So, what happens then?
I know that its possible to renew it, but I don't know at this point if its even guaranteed. I mean, do you just go or call in and ask for an extension on your permit or do you have to resubmit the same evidence plus more to get it? Also, to most people, two years isn't really enough to finish college/university or obtain enough work experience in order to advance to a better job. To me, it seems like a dick move to just give you a taste of life and then take it away after certain time. Afterwards, returning to your old ways before you had "semi-legality". I'm speaking out of concern here and I'm sure I'm missing something. Does anyone else share similar worries? |
Re: After two years
Just life dude. Do as much as you can the next two years, and do your part to get CIR/DREAM passed this year. It is not just complaining about politicians. Do your part too. Make some calls, go to meetings, write some letters.

Re: After two years
2 years aren't much by at least you can drive now and travel without fear and all it costed you was 465 I would think with Obama now in office for sure the program will last long enough to happy for another 2 years.
|
Re: After two years
stop complaining, be glad you were able to qualify, and do as much as you can with what you've been given. Also do your part so DA/CIR pass before those 2 years are over and stay out of trouble.

Re: After two years
Yeah I've lots of people here complain about this. Some user even bitched why "forcing" us to do school or military for DA was lame. Feels like some of us have forgotten what the main objective of the dream act........

omg i've been wanting the DA to pass since I first heard of it because I want to get an education!!! I want to have a career and be financially stable. |
Re: After two years
Who said DACA force them to do anything? If you don't want to go to school, then don't. But then you don't qualify. Honestly, the things some people complain about is ridiculous.
In two years (rather sooner than that so you have no problems at your job), you'll have to renew DACA. I don't think anyone that gets approved this time around won't be able to renew it. Maybe the kids that are stupid enough not to finish a GED or high school... Maybe |
Re: After two years
Was it really complaints when all I thought I was just posting my concerns? Huh.
As for my time, I'll do what I can and just 'enjoy it while it lasts' like you say. |
Re: After two years
I personally was referring to what other posters said OP
But to answer your concern, I doubt there will be trouble getting a chance at renewal. If the government decides to suspend DACA for any reason, a lot of people will not be happy. The implications of not continuing the program will be disasterous to anyone that stops the program. |
Re: After two years
yea when u really think about it, its really not as good as a green card.
|
Re: After two years
You don't think about it, it's obvious.
|
Re: After two years
Some of these topics recently should really get the ban hammer, it's getting ridiculous now, with all due respect to OP.
|
Re: After two years
Apologies. I didn't spend enough time here to realize this kind of discussion was considered taboo. No disrespect to anyone.
|
Re: After two years
It's not taboo, but can't you just enjoy your ead and go live and enjoy it and not worry about renewing the damn thing, I mean you JUST got it. Also it's been discussed before many times. Fuck Vermont.

Re: After two years
I had planned on it. Yeah.

Re: After two years
Well, that kid needs to come up with better alternatives and advocate for them. I would be cool if they allowed people with vocational school. But, some people want the community service provision back. That I say NO. Don't dumb people down. If you have a successful business going than you know. Prove it. But, otherwise do something.
|
Re: After two years
Oh, I see. Still stand on my comment though. I don't think many people will have problems renewing DACA.
|
Re: After two years
Well, yes the two year thing, is fine, I'm positive Obama has our backs.
I'm really happy that we all actually have an ID, license, and a social. These things will def. stay with us for a long time (much longer than 2 years) It was a pain, living without a social and ID. You have to count your blessings. |
Re: After two years
bitchass mofos will always bitch, some of these youngass mofos don't know what we had to go through to survive post 9/11.

Re: After two years
Don't get us wrong OP that's something us DACA qualifying dreamers think about but I think we should use that energy to help get the DA/CIR to pass preferably by the end of this year. Like I said let's be glad we actually qualified for DACA because there's some that didn't and let's work with what we've been given sure a work permit might not be much but it's a lot more than what we used to have. :)

Re: After two years
I think all DACA dreamers have to focus on 3 things these two years:
