Don't even worry about it. Background checks won't reveal your immigration status. They won't even know about your future expiration date until you fill out your I9. But like you said, you start in...

Adjustment of Status (Green Card). I recently proposed to my US citizen girlfriend of 6 years. So, we'll be getting married soon through a courthouse to apply for my green card.
