I'm a paranoid freak when it comes to traveling as there is so much that one can lose by being deported. Hence, I would say not to make such journeys unless it is an emergency. I am aware that many people have traveled without any problems, but you never know. So, only travel if you have to. There will be plenty of time to take such vacations once you are documented.
